September 2016- Fed Preview
On September 21st, at the conclusion of a Federal Open Market Committee meeting, the Chairperson of the Federal Reserve Bank will announce the committee’s decision on altering interest rates.
This is the 6th Fed meeting of the year and it will be followed by a press conference.
The Fed has not raised or lowered interest rates in 2016.
They did raise rates by 0.25% last December and had expected to hike 3 or 4 more times in the new year. But a few funny things have happened on the way to policy normalization……
While the consensus thinking is that they will again stand pat, their communique could contain clues to the future which hold strong interest for the financial markets.
